Ever since last week’s amazing NFL games and upsets in the wild card weekend I have been anxious for this weekends match-ups. The wait is finally over and this weekend should stack up with the best of them based on the games that are about to be played.
Saturday 4:30 ET on FOX
New Orleans Saints vs. Arizona Cardinals
After last weeks shootout between the Packers and Cardinals this game is sure to be a high scoring aerial battle loaded with excitement. The Saints were the highest scoring team in the NFL this season and the Cardinals are loaded with weapons and obviously playing high scoring football as they showed last week. We will see if the week off helped the Saints shake that funk they had at the end of the season and how strong they get back in the game.
Saturday 8:30 ET on CBS
Indianapolis Colts vs. Baltimore Ravens
This is another great game after the Ravens upset the Patriots at home last week after barely making it into the playoffs. I wouldn’t want to be playing the Ravens right now with their stout aggressive defense and Ray Rice running all over the place on offense. The colts had a great season and have the NFL MVP at the helm, one of the best ever, but they played a LOT of close games this year and had to come from behind 7 times in their 14-0 start. This will be an interesting game to watch but don’t be surprised if the Ravens are moving on in the playoffs.
Sunday 1:00 ET on FOX
Minnesota Vikings vs. Dallas Cowboys
I’m not sure if anymore people can fit on the Dallas bandwagon after they won their last 5 games including 2 whipping’s of the Eagles and are apparently the hottest team in the NFL. I am not sure I buy all that although the Viking fan in me may not be impartial here but still they are looking good, I just don’t think they are going to walk all over the Vikings. And the concern over the Vikings is all out of context in my opinion. The last game of the season Favre was flawless, AP was running the ball well, they blew out the game, not to mention on the season their defensive pass rush is the best in the game, AP rushed for over 1380 with 18 TD’s which is hardly a bad season even though people think he is slumping, and Favre had the best season of his career. So despite all of the drama that people want to make out of the Vikings and the supposed failures Favre has been a part of since his Super Bowl victory there is no reason to think the Vikings are going to have issues with the Cowboys. It will be a great game to watch and I hope that the Vikings bring their A game, which they will need, and derail this late season Cowboys bandwagon.
Sunday 4:40 ET on CBS
San Diego Chargers vs. New York Jets
I think this game will be the easiest to predict. The Chargers are the most underrated team in my opinion and hottest in the NFL riding an 11 game win streak. Rivers is playing lights out and they have a balanced although no longer dominate running game. The Chargers are the real deal this year. The Jets backed their way into the playoffs whether they like that terminology or not, get over it. They made good on their word and their spot though by beating the Bengals last week. They have a tough defense and are playing well so it should be a good game but I completely expect the Chargers to win this one.
Regardless of what happens there are some great playoff match ups this weekend that should make for some really good NFL to watch on TV.
