New real estate checkbox – mancave

I have been semi-looking / semi-daydreaming recently about buying some real estate that is beach front or pretty close to the beach maybe with a view of the ocean. As I was looking around southern California at Newport Beach homes for sale I was entering the usual criteria of price, bedrooms, bathrooms, view, amenities like pool, etc and thought wouldn’t it be cool if there was a box to check for Mancave. I know it isn’t as main stream a feature as a pool, fenced in yard, deck, finished basement, close to schools, or any other variety of nice to have amenities that may sway you to at least look at a house but it is becoming more mainstream and would certainly help get some guys through the door and interested if they knew their spouses were “dragging” them to look at new homes that had a Mancave already in existence. It would certainly pique my curiosity and get me motivated to go check it out and in the end may be the distinguishing factor on what houses to look at. I am not saying to go build a mancave to draw in a bunch of potential buyers but if you have one it might be a selling point that could more easily be pointed out and searched on like ocean view or beachfront. Who knows maybe in years to come the real estate websites will add the functionality to list is as part of the search criteria. Here’s to dreaming about ultimate Mancaves!
